Why do straight guys dislike gay guys?

concreteloop.com
Inspired by a conversations with friends, i’ve always wondered why some straight guys dislike gay guys. They are borne gay and there is nothing they can do about it. The majority, if not all gays that I know and have met, are very happy with their gender. The only place where choice seems to come into play is when they decide how they will acknowledge their identity. Choosing if and how to 'come out' and choosing who to tell. I can only imagine how painful this must be, hiding who you are because you are afraid of being judged, abused rejected.
Of course there are all sorts of visceral reactions that straights have toward gays, the most obvious being the thought or heaven forbid the mental image of two guys doing it. But I think ignorance has a lot to do with it. The stereotypes that gay men will try to hit on or feel up every guy they come into contact with. And of course there are those who feel that their masculinity would be threatened and those who thinks it’s gross because they personally don't happen to like gay men.

"Why do straight guys have such disgust for gays?" Why should they, after all, it’s less competition.
It doesn’t even make sense to me why some straight guys get angry when a gay guy hits on them. I mean if someone does hit on you, male or female, that you aren't sexually attracted to you should just give that person a polite, "no, thank you" and move on.

We are what we do.

I think that people become what they do especially when they do it repeatedly. Your actions define who you are. Your actions speak as loudly as your words. People act the way they do because of their personality traits and attitudes. They return a lost cell phone because they are honest, recycle their trash because they care about the environment.
Well, you choose what your actions are, but your actions determine your life and personality, so in order to better one's self, better one's actions! You are judged by your actions that can speak louder than words. Our actions make us who we are, who we are guides the kinds of acts we will perform.
Perhaps we aren't particularly trustworthy and instead returned the wallet in order to impress the people around us. When we do the right things we are told that is who we are. Just as when you are doing the wrong thing. Yes there are times when external factors influence a person to do something, but I think it becomes who you are or at least a part of who you are when you do it repeatedly.

The value of bad moments.

Andiswa Dlokolo
It has been a long road for me to get to where I am today. Challenges along the way have tested my strength and my will power, making me the person I am today.

“A friend to some” I have met way too many people in this short life of mine.  I’ve had many “friends” especially during the good times. It’s amazing how many of them I’ve lost along the way. Not that I’m complaining though. Good riddance to ….. J I’m not implying I’m a perfect friend or anything, but I can be to the ones I care fore. I guess the ones I’ve lost didn’t care about me or I didn’t care about them…. Who knows?

For some odd reason this year has been hell for me so far. Bad things seem to be happening after another. I overcome one hurdle, then something else happens, like someone is playing a game with me. I must say though, with all the bad things happening in my life, I am learning a lot. These hurdles are making me grow stronger, they are making me find different ways of hustling and making things happen.

I’ve even seen who my “true” friends are, who really cares about me and have my best interest at heart. Not to mention the number of people that turn their backs when bumps surface. I’ve ended up having no choice but to laugh when something bad happens especially when it’s one bad thing after another.

Without the bad things happening in our lives, how can we tell if the friends we have are true friends? How are we to know of our abilities and what we are capable of?

Whenever bad thing happen, we should try and not spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves. Instead, we should try to look for the good things that will come out of whatever bad situation we find ourselves in. I know it’s easier said than done, but I can be done.

We are afraid of the wrong things!

"We are afraid of the wrong things"<------ This makes me think of how we can be afraid of the wrong things without realising it. It is a fact, there is no recipe for life, but there are millions of rules and regulations that guide us in order to survive in the twisted world we are living in.
womenshealth.gov

The two challenges that we as the youth of today are facing, is the increasing number of unwanted pregnancy and the spread of HIV/AIDS. But what I have found quite shocking is how some people (women in particular) will do anything to prevent pregnancy by using, pills, patches or injections, but not think about condoms as one of the options to prevent pregnancy.

womenshealth.gov

Through conversations with peers, I found that some people are more afraid of being pregnant more than contracting STI's, because they would rather use other forms of contraception to prevent pregnancy rather than using a condom, that prevents both unwanted pregnancies and STI's. Making me think that one would rather contract an STI than fall pregnant.

Not to say unwanted pregnancies are less important than contacting STI's, but why is it that some people find it so hard to use a condom when using other forms of contraception? I mean, they don’t prevent a person from contracting diseases but condoms do. So why not be afraid of both, unwanted pregnancies and STI’s rather than choosing one over the other?

Fish falling from the sky

askaxworld.com

There are many difficulties in the world we are living in. People often ask why God allows trials. When we as people go through a hard time, we always want to know why. Why has this pain come upon us? Why me? We may even still awake at night thinking about it, praying about it.

Then there are people who are always doing good things but bad things seen to happen to them all the time. This often makes me wonder why some ungrateful people get to have it all and why it takes someone to lose everything In order to realise that they’ve been blessed all along.

Fish can be seen as blessings falling from the sky. After enduring hardship, sometimes good things tend to happen. We call them blessing but we “never know” where they come from. They are just little fish called blessings falling from the sky, hopefully for those who deserve it the most.

B-Tech Funding

After completing the National Diploma which takes 3 years at CPUT, a student has a choice of doing their post grad being B-Tech (which is equivalent to a degree), Masters and PHD.

NSFAS Website
A large amount of students at CPUT study through NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme). At the financial department it is stated that a student cab be funded by NSFAS for a period of 5 years whilst studying at the institution.

For me this then means that a student will complete the ND in 3 years, B-Tech which takes a year and masters which also take a year. Making it 5 years being supported by NSFAS. Baring in mind that this is a loan that will have to be paid back, they are not giving it to u to have. It is an investment to yourself.

When I asked about this 5 years funding by NSFAS, I was told that “the 5 years is to accommodate the students who take 5 years to complete a 3 year course”. When applying for NSFAS for B-Tech after completing the NP in record time (3 years), you are told that NSFAS doesn’t fund Post Grads in which B-Tech falls under.

Majority of students studying through NSFAS get thousands of rands in change for no given reason and yet they don’t want to fund B-Tech students who want to get their degrees so that they are not only limited by the ND, but be able to be recognise out of the country.

What is the reason for NSFAF not to want to fund B-Tech students at CPUT and yet other institutions, students are funded for their full degree?

The fruit of the womb

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3

The knowledge that you had NO idea how much capacity for love you have until you see your child for the first time.
The biggest change of your life ever
The biggest time sink in your life time
The biggest money sink in your life time
The biggest stress creator in your life time
The biggest fights in your life time
The biggest worry of your life time
The biggest threat of your life time

Children are the world's best teachers in life. I’m a young mom who has an education diploma and doing my B-Tech. I accordingly take many child development and discipline lessons on raising my child from my MOTHER, family, friends, books, you name it. But my child has taught me more than any teacher ever could.
Because of her I have learned how to actually apply discipline. I know the different stages of development first hand. Being a mom can taught me more about myself and the world than i ever thought possible. I also constantly have to learn “new things” like why the sky is blue, the grass is green, how foam is made in the bath, or the names of every doll (or at least the cool n pretty ones).
Her voice, her laugh and her smile bring joy in lifeJ to say I’ve lived through all the possible biggest moments of her life. IT’S ALL WORTH IT!!!!!
The thought of not knowing how she will turn out is another story!
When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. John 16:21

What is the colour of the wind?

What is the colour of the wind? How on sweet earth should I know what the colour of the wind is? I’m not a poet or a scientist and I’m not going to wreck my brain trying to come up with poetic ways or rhymes about the colour of the wind.

The only thing that comes to mind when being asked what the colour of the wind is is literal. I look outside and I see the wind moving the trees, ruining people’s hair, lifting skirts up and pushing people back and forth. But the COLOUR on the other hand….. I’m sure some clever scientist or poet will come up with the perfect answer to that question.

environment.nationalgeographic.com

When I think really hard about the colour of the wind, a tornado comes to mind, even though I don’t recall us having one here in SA. So to me, the colour of the wind is GRAY! Aggressive, dangerous, deadly and scary.
